Serving the Episcopal Community of Pacific Grove and the Monterey Peninsula since 1887

MISSION AND VISION

The mission of the parish of St. Mary's-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church is to proclaim God's presence and grace in the world and spread the Word of the Lord. We strive to live by the Great Commandment: to love the lord our God with all our hearts and minds and souls, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We want all our programs and activities to further these goals.

We want St. Mary's to be a spiritual community: where all people are welcome, where all can grow in their understanding and experience of God, revealed in Jesus Christ, and where all can discover and develop their own unique ministries in the world.

We, the parish of St. Mary's-by-the-Sea, shall accomplish our mission by ministering to God's people at St. Mary's and loving our neighbors as ourselves.  We shall:

- provide tradition-based and varied worship for all,

- celebrate the diversity of God's people by being open and welcoming to all,

- provide Christian education programs for all ages,

- provide opportunities for spiritual growth and renewal,

- be a friendly community-oriented gathering place,

- strengthen and support parish families and individuals,
- maintain an effective, well-managed organization,

- cherish our historic buildings and grounds,

- celebrate individual and group efforts directed toward achieving the mission.

- create and support activities and projects for community service on the Monterey peninsula,

- create and support activities and projects for justice and mercy on the Monterey peninsula and beyond,

- sustain these programs with facilities, resources and individual service.
